Hi, I’m Tommaso, a technologist from the Milan section. When I began my university career in Engineering, I dreamed of working in the energy sector. Which actually happened because I started my first years of career in the Oil&Gas sector. At a certain point, however, I came into contact with the fascinating world of research, winning a competition for an INFN research grant in the field of quality control on applied superconductivity. The mentoring program I participated in began at a time when I was very undecided about the direction to take my career. I was hypothesizing a return to the industry.
Both the precious advice of my mentor and new job opportunities within the organization encouraged me to move forward. During the program, in fact, I became a tenured INFN technologist following a competition. The continuous evolution within the organization distanced me from fear that my career could stagnate: the dynamism and the possibility of throwing myself into ever new projects, of which the Research sector is characteristic, made it easier for me to understand that this was the path. In this phase the support of my mentor was fundamental.
