Carlo Puggioni

I am a Technologist at the INFN Cagliari. A few months after completing my specialist degree in information science and technology, I began my work adventure at INFN in 2009, with a followship for recent graduates. For me it was a completely new environment and I immediately started working on the monitoring software for the ZDC detector for the ALICE experiment. At the end of the two years I started another 4 of research grants always in the context of the ALICE experiment. In these years I continued the maintenance of the ZDC monitoring software and I worked in the ITS detector upgrade project where I developed the readout and monitoring software for pixel detector prototypes.

Where  I developed the readout and monitoring software for pixel detector prototypes. After a few more followship and external collaborator contracts to finish the work I was doing, I won a fixed-term contract again with INFN for an air quality project called CAGLIARI 2020.  Other projects I worked on were the development of the platform for the Asimov Prize which I still maintain. I currently have a permanent contract and I carry out the following roles for my section: IT RUP, RSU and Technology Transfer contact person.

When I followed the Mentoring course I didn’t have a permanent contract yet and this path helped me to become more aware of my skills and aptitudes. It also allowed me to learn more about gender issues, which before this course I lived with superficiality. Now, however, I understand its importance more.

Taking inspiration from the activities carried out in the course, I better understood the value of activities outside my working life and by analyzing the way I spent my time I was able to organize it better so that I could devote more hours to different activities such as acting, swimming, going to the cinema, playing board games and volunteering.
