Hi, I’m Laura, researcher of the Rome section.
When I chose to study Physics, I dreamed of becoming a teacher in a scientific high school; however, the scientific and technological challenges encountered during the thesis conquered me from day one and my dreams had to adapt.
After exciting years spent developing ultra-low background detectors for the search for rare events, I let myself be fascinated by the world of quantum technologies.
I met my mentor at a time when I was very undecided about the direction to give to my research activity and she strongly urged me to get out of my “comfort zone” and to dream bigger. Sometimes the right words come when we’re ready to hear them, and I jumped in. Today I’m coordinating a small research group on a project in which I strongly believe and I’ve learned that failures and setbacks shouldn’t discourage you, but you have to hold on, especially when things go wrong, because the results always come.
